Why would you need to do this?

You can get a regular hard drive, and you already have a CF slot.

flash drive won't break down as easily as mechanical HD.

won't make noise as mechanical HD.

i have that 2GB CF card always in, have no need for eject it very often. but i hate that fault in design when CF card slot's eject button sticks out when the card is in (compared to MPC500 where the slot is nicely hidden "under the hood", can't hit the eject stick unintentionally when travelling for example).

that was one of Sixtoo's complaints about the MPC
"see how long that lasts on tour"

my advice - put the card in, take a thin saw, and saw that jank off. whenever you want to eject your card, push a pencil against the stub. easy street.

yes, i was thinkin of that too. would save up from 100€ compared to installing a solid state hd & HDM10 ;) maybe saw marks can be made quite clean after all.

cheers!

you can also get laptop drive - to - CF card adaptors which allow you to use a CF card as if it were a hard drive, you could then put the cf card inside the mpc which would negate the need for nym's hacksaw hack, the only problem being losing the ability to easily remove the card.
