MPC 2000XL Shift + Cursor Trick

Most of you probably now this already..............

If you need to trim the start or end point of your sample it could get pretty anoying having to turn the Jog Dial while you only do small increments.

One solution is to do the Shift + Fader trick, which is cool..

One other option is to hold Shift and move to the left with the Cursor to select a bigger value digit so you do bigger increments first and then fine tune the start / end point afterwards.

Again sorry if this was already posted before....

why is this cat so condescending and non-helpful in pretty much every post of his I've seen. not sure why he's here if he knows everything and has nothing to offer. get the manual is not a helpful piece of advice (1) because it's obvious and (2) because a lot of us probably wouldn't be here if the manual was the sacred temple of all answers mpc. the attitude and hubris is played out, and boring frankly.

the manual is the secred temple of all mpc answers to BASIC questions which is what gets asks most on these boards.

If the manual was obvious more people would read it have the basics largely understood.

But don't front, MANY basic problems can be solved if peeps take the time to read the manual right off the bat.
Because they don't, not on me, it's on them. Have you noticed that whenever I said "read the friendly manual" it's a manual that I've actually seen/read and the answer IS actually in there?!? Have you noticed that or you just hittin at me cause you don't like the phrase?

Non helpful, you've not read many of my posts then. I admit and people know I've gotten irate on the boards (nope, I aint the only one), but I've been pretty damn helpful as well, I think. You, nothing added to this thread as well, so we know where you stand, on the sidelines throwin rocks.

No doubt, imagine a fishing enthusiasts forum where every day people logged on asking how to cast their rod or some shyt. Coming here without basic knowledge is just lazy and annoying to the people who actually read the manual and use their MPCs regularly.

Chapter 6: Creating and Editing Sounds
Page 98+

TRIM Mode

• St:
Set the start point where you want the sound to start from when played back by selecting
the St: field with the cursor and changing the value with the DATA wheel. You can enter
large numbers by entering a number with the numeric pad and then pressing ENTER.
You can also use the NOTE VARIATION slider while holding the SHIFT key.
• End:
Set the end point where you want the sound to end when played back by selecting the
End: field with the cursor and changing the value with the DATA wheel. You can enter
large numbers by entering a number with the numeric pad and then pressing ENTER.
You can also use the NOTE VARIATION slider while holding the SHIFT key.

LOOP Mode

Set the loop of the sound. Set to play loops, such as a phrase sample, in this mode.
Hold SHIFT and press TRIM (or 5 on the numeric pad), then press LOOP [F2].
• To:
This sets the turn of the loop. Select the To: field with the cursor and change the value with
the DATA wheel. You can enter large numbers by entering a number with the numeric pad
and then pressing ENTER.
You can also use the NOTE VARIATION slider while holding the SHIFT key.
• Lngth:/End:
This sets the length of the loop.
You can select either Lngth: or End: by placing the cursor here and turning the DATA
wheel.
Select the field to the right of Lngth:/End: with the cursor and change the value with
the DATA wheel. You can enter large numbers by entering a number with the numeric pad
and then pressing ENTER.
You can also use the NOTE VARIATION slider while holding the SHIFT key

Damn, I dont think Ive ever seen lamp copy and paste right from the manual.....That dude must have really gotten under your skin!! :lol:

Konsumer, dig deeper into the forum history, I guarantee EVERY SINGLE ONE of the questions you will need to know has been asked and answered in detail. We see your 2 posts.........

If you are new here, you have to appreciate the dudes who've been up for 3,4,5 years answering the most basic questions with RTFM. Not only that, but Lamp will tend to hit you up with a page number from the manual or lead you in right direction if you show you made some attempt........what more do you want?? You need someone to hold your hand while you play with your new MPC? If you really need more info than what you can find using search, buy one of the tutorials!!
