This is what myself and couple of other MPC2000XL modders used to get a laptop hard drive in our MPC. (less noise, less heat)
It's still working flawlessly and faster than my card reader.

"Problem of MPC XL is that there are no special place for internal HDD
First variant - put HDD to place of IB-M208P.
Second place is the place of flash card FMX008M, but installing of big HDD is a problem,, cards of RAM dont let you install big HDD
