where else to buy replacement pads?

only site i know of is mpcstuff.com but from reading the description it says it can take months before receiving orders on replacement pads. are there any other sites that sell the pad upgrades?

naw yo..well not that i know of...i guess the easiest way i was told to do is to buy all individual pads and replace them that way!

craigslist and ebay. i've been on a waitlist for months now and finally got my money back and bought some from a dude on craigslist (and paid a premium for it too... ). if you get them through a retailer you can be sure you'll be on a waitlist for a long long time. just keep your eye out.

But that would mean your buying the exact same pad's that you just replaceed. Waste of money CAUSE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
If I were you I'd just order 'em and tough out the wait . I did the make shift pad fix just to make thing's semi work , But I'm In the middle of tryin to mod the pads from an Akai mpd16 in to my 1k. If it works it'll be dope cause it onlty cost 90.00 USD for the mpd.

I think Akai is ubusing their position. I mean, does it take so much time and money to manufacture a few thousand pad upgrade packages? They take it real easy down there at Akai, because they now we don't have much of an alternative. Maybe they try to get us so fu*&ing frustrated, that they're hoping we dump our 1k's to buy the bk-n version so they can earn double money over our backs.

and as another clever user has pointed out, how come the MPD16 (which has a more COMPLEX PCB than the MPC1000 pad FIX) costs less than the MPC1000 pad FIX??????????

I'm brainwashed by Akai, and I hava blue mp 1000 withe deadpads and me only thingy thatz still of valueue is the JJ OS. Buying me nuw padz cost 2 much and the waiting lissst iz ssssoooo long. SSoo nowa I'ma selll me mpc to Nym and buyy a new mpc 1000, or a 2500 (dunno yet, Ima open a thread on da compersion voruummm for da differenz btween those 2) or maybe the mpc 5000.

I bought mine in the UK from soundslive (soundslive.co.uk) as kindly recommended by someone on here.
They're not on the website, you need to phone them. Cost about £120 IIRC.
They didn't stock them, but acted as "man in the middle" (they get them from alesis/numark uk, which had stock)

If you aren't satisfied with Akai I have an idea. STOP GIVING THEM YOUR MONEY! find an alternative...or use good old fashioned word of mouth....If you see someone whos talking about buying a new mpc unit, persuade them not to by explaining the unsatisfactory actions of the company. They (Akai) will keep releasing sub par products as long as you people keep purchasing them....Don't complain that you have no alternative either because there are plenty of other products out there and no one is forcing you to buy an Akai product.
