"I even take my 2000 over the 2500 anyday."

Anyday??
Ok, now your talking crazy.
Why would anyone that uses a Hi-tech MPC4000 rather use a drum-machine with
(1) No Folder support
(2) a boot up disk
(3) No USB
(4) No Realtime control.
(5) No internal CF reader compatibility.
(6) No HI or MID filters.
(7) 32 Meg ram limitation
(8) SCSI?? What you gonna connect that to nowadays?
(9) Non tilt screen??
(10) SMPTE option?(Yep.. we all need that addition in 2008 don't we?)
(11) No Timestretch
(12) I can go on, but you get my point.
Now I'd take a 2000XL over a 2000 any day, but when I go back to it from my 2500, the 2000XL feels prehistoric.

Askia Shaheed needs to get a life. You are posting bull sh*t all over the forum about the 4000. I own one and have never had a problem. I've got 3000 and used to use a 2000XL. The 4000 is still the king of MPC's. It's a beast straight out the box. I'd never give it up for a 1000 or 2500. Try install 512 mb of memory in on of those.

I've never noticed any bugs with the latest OS ... never!!
but aperantly there are some in very techy places (dunno when programing sysex.. or some destinations in mod madtrix .. I just dont know, as I never notice them .. and I do allot of seq and in depth sampling with it..

for me, quite frankly it works perfect!

the bug thing is hype ... look at the board.. you see any post with users complaining about OS bugs..

over the 4k the 2.5 has auto chop, patch phraise and better portability.. but the 4k has tons of features over the 2.5 and a way better UI largely thanks to the big LCD

its tight, its reliable, its fast and sounds great... no problems ever!! not even a freeze .. it just works!!

The MPC 2500 have more advantages that what you mentioned. The MPC 2500 has audio tracks, real-time pitch change (without impacting tempo), direct to track recording, and non-destructive chopping among other things. The "tons" of features the 4K has that the MPC 2500 doesn't can be added to the MPC 2500 by getting a cheap Z series samplers as I mentioned earlier. Since the MPC 2500 also have numerous Q-link sliders and knobs that send CC changes, it functions nicely with the Z series or any other hardware sampler. You may also want to take a look at the MV-8000 or 8800 which you can easily pickup for $800-$1200 if you are looking for an all-in-one workstation. Although they are not my personal favorite, they do offer numerous features that the MPC 4000 doesn't have while boasting a very powerful sampler and decent user interface.

Dude, you are the biggest HATER of the form. You were just on the 5000-MV8800 comparison thread dissing all of the MV's. Now, you trying so hard to hate on the 4000, that you are recommending buying an MV!

I sold my mpc 2500 like 3 weeks after i bought it, its a nice enought machine, but i bought it as an upgrade of the 1000. when i got it i realized that it was almost identical software to the 1ooo w. jjos. i did like the direct recording, but other than that its just a big 1000, for a 1000$ more. Im satisfied and settled with my 4000. i wont be upgrading to anything else.
