Triggering the S950 w/ MPC-60 ii - How do I do it???

I've got my MIDI cables connected properly, I just can't seem to figure out how to tell the S-950 to play when hitting a pad on the 60. Any advice for first time users of the MPC-60 ii and S950??

set the midi channel of the track to midi channel of the 950, set the track to drum, set the MPC to local off. Set the 950 channel to the same number as the track midi channel.

The only thing is....I wish to trigger loops and create basslines by filtering with the S950. I want my MPC-60 to play all my drums. Does that mean I would set aside a few tracks for the S950 (maybe the first 8 tracks for drums and misc. samples from the MPC). The s950 has its own 8 outs but my mixing console only has 12 available channels. 4 are true LINE/MIC and the other 4 are stereo L/R (4+8). Thank you sir.

yeah, set aside tracks, or just assign them to the 950 midi numbers as you need them.
