I wish the erase muted tracks feature from the 2000xl was in JJ, for how I work it is a major ommission on the newer MPCs. Sure I can do it track by track but if I want to create 15 variations of a sequence it takes ages, can do it in less than 1 minute using the xl method.

^ despite the extra legwork not being THAT hard, i completely agree - i didn't even know this was a feature in the 2000!
this would come in handy because i always bounce all my seqs down to 1 seq via "convert song to sequence" in song mode. this means i must go through all my tracks and erase all my muted tracks in each of sometimes 10/20+ sequences! this is the type of repetitive action that jjos tends to eliminate
however, there are more frequent repetitive actions that i do that i wish jj would eliminate first - ie, chopping a sample into 64 pieces and then going through and turning EACH ONE to altloop on - THAT is a time killerr.

Yeah that too.
Hey I really liked your videos, nice to see someone doing more advanced stuff.
I'd also like to see recordable mutes in song mode, like a separate linear track that runs parallel with a song for mutes/mix automation/q link, step edit and realtime.

hey nym,
dont forget that if you turn the original sample to alt loop before you chop, all the samples will be set to alt loop too (once you turn on the loop, which is a click with the wheel and a press of a button per sample.. much less work than turning on the loop, then changing the sample and then the loop direction)
i also use the new pgm mode in trim if i forget to do this:
highlight the loop direction field and hit the pads while continually moving the jog wheel to the right.. and every pad will become alt looped.
also what i miss from an earlier version (1.16?1.17? for the 1000 ) was that the loop start point would be memorised from the previous pad that was hit (not the parent sample)
for example if you set the loop start point 1000 samples into the sound, when you hit the next pad using the pgm mode in trim..and the if you adjust the sample loop start a click to the right, it would jump staight to approx 1000 samples in for the new sound... not logical for some users perhaps, but very useful for me, because i very rarely alt loop right back to the beginning of a sound.
having said all that stuff, yeah a way to change loop on/off/direction and channel L/R/ST per"whole" range in the program would be great.

oh my god mikolo, that new program mode trick just made my day. that's so quick.
i could have sworn i've tried setting the original sample to altloop and then chopping and having the children samples NOT be altlooped as the original was...maybe it's just been a long time since i tried.

cool, im glad it helps. pgm mode is such a good addition, os1 feels awkward now when i go back to it.
not sure about the alt loop inheritance thing, it always seems to work for me like that, maybe there was an update where it stopped working for a while or something.

A track bounce feature would be nice.I often put sounds all over the place when creating my sequences, but when it comes to recording, it would be nice to have a feature to put all my kicks/snares etc on separate tracks.
Also, when in 16 level mode, when you lay a pattern and you need to erase a certain note, you have to remember where the original pad was. On the 2000/2000XL, you just had to erase the the 16 level note. Many times, I'm searching to find the "parent" pad to erase, but I usually end up stopping the sequence and exiting out of the 16 levels just to find the right note. Very annoying.
PS, add these features to OS-1 JJ!

i would love this...
also, a much better way to burn cds on the 2500 would be awesome too. like somehow not having to have something loaded into the RAM to burn it

how about having the fx in the input thru menu so you can listen in realtime? maybe not too useful for most fx but could come in very handy when just listening to records with the vocal cut on. sometimes i come across some cool stuff.

another think that we really need is !!!!
MIDI RESET!!!!!!!!!!!!
when u controll other tonmodules with the mpc, it sometimes happens that they hung up (still plays a note even when you stop playing or recording)...
it s really **** up when this happens and you have loaded a fantom x for examples filled with 150 mb of brass samples......it takes a lil bit till you load that up again...

Not sure if this has already been implemented. If it has, then I haven't discovered it yet.
One thing I thought was pretty cool about the MV was that while you are sequencing a drum beat (just as an example) you could sequence all your pads on one track and then later break down the pads used on that one track into their own individual tracks.
This would be useful because if you are recording all on one track and creating a nice groove, it will be more convenient to break it down so you can multi-track in your DAW.

Mike Feedback wrote:the 1000 forum has a feature request post, so now it's time for ours. here's some of the requests that i've been asking for from the beginning, most of them stem from me having had the 2000xl for so long and the 2500 lacking features which made the 2000xl so user friendly.
1. in load screen, only F5 ("PLAY") should audition samples from disk, pressing pads should play the sounds loaded in the current program. this is essential if you're loading drums and want to make sure that they match the samples you've already assigned to pads.
2. in trim screen, the speed at which you spin the data knob should determine the amount of steps the end points take regardless of what zoom you're in. slow spinning will adjust end points by 1, spinning a little faster will adjust end points by 10, faster by 100, even faster by 1000, etc. you shouldn't have to hit zoom 10 times just to adjust an end point by 1 digit like in the JJ OS, and you shouldn't have to hit shift + cursor to adjust an end point by larger numbers like in the Akai OS.
3. in trim screen, pressing pads 1 - 12 should play sample as one shot (mono) rather than note off.
4. in step edit, add a view called "Current" which will list only the events triggered at the current step. so if you're at step 001.01.48, it will only display the events triggered at 001.01.48. events triggered between 001.01.00 and 001.01.47, and between 001.01.49 and the end of the sequence are not shown. also, save the view so that it doesn't have to be selected each time the mpc is powered on.
5. add the ability to punch in record while a sequence is playing.
6. add the ability to step edit from the main screen (i.e. pressing record or overdub in main screen and then pressing a pad will record that pad to the current step).
7. add direct recording on any track like the 2500's Akai OS. i don't find audio tracks useful at all.
8. save TC on power off.
I vote number six should be number one.

yes that would be cool!!seperate tracks by notes!!!
