I'm not a sample-based producer but i do sample every once in a while. But sampling in software is boring and tedious. So im looking for an MPC.

These are my probable options:

MPC 500
MPC2000XL
MPC1000

I'd like to know which is the best when it comes to these questions:

1) Best Pads?
2) Quickness of use
3) Best sound?
4) Most Outputs
5) Best editing abillities (knobs, buttons)
6) Strongness of build
7) Least Viruses/Crashes etc...

Also I'd like to know what the sliders, knobs and buttons are for. Are they for mixing???

Thanks a lot for any info

How about do your own research... no offence but those are very generic questions.

I have done my own research, i agree tho that i will do more and i should know what the buttons and faders are for and what outputs they have but there is no search function in this forum so I dont know non technical stuff like which pads feel nicer, how quick it is to use and how sturdy it is.

1k hands down. its pretty damn near portable without it being able to be powered by batteries. i use to take mine on trips all of the time.

mpc 500 everytime i read the forum it seems to be plagued by problems that and coupled with a tiny tiny screen is a big no factor in my book.

mpc 2kxl i honestly dont know why people say its a definitive sampler i know a lot of big named producers used it (prefuse 73) etc. but most either moved up to a 1k etc. or down further to an mpc that truely mattered (3000, 60). the 2kxl doenst to me have that big of a sound difference. there is a post on here that details the difference between a 2kxl, 60, 3000, sp-1200 i wished they would have added a 2500 or 1k to that test.

mpc 1k now it does have problems but with the jjos backing up the os its the best thing since the day god himself came down and sliced bread.

1k. 2kxl is a bit outdated compaired to the new breed of mp's (no offend to the 2kxl users) with the cf card and the usb port. A 500 has all the basics and is a nice peace of equipment which is also very portable. But the 1k is more complete. A few extra and better functions then the 2kxl, still portable but stronger and better to work with then a 500. With the 1k u'll get the most out of ur money.

From what you listed as wants/needs and the limited units you listed, I'd say 1k.
I prefer 2000xl and older units for various reasons, but my preference wasn't listed in your wants/needs.
