Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey, I just got a 500 from my friend and so far I'm loving and having no problems, except like once a week I'll try to turn it on and it gets stuck at the 'MPC500 startup' page and I'll have to turn it off and try again. It'll end up taking like 30 minutes just to turn it on.

Anyone know whats up?

hold down the erase/undo button and power on, this will reset to factory default, might help.

otherwise, do you have a memory expansion or CF card in there, you coudl try removing them (CF first since thats easiest) and see if that helps.

Finally what power supply are you using, is it correct voltage and ampage? does it do this on batteries (if not maybe your psu is failing)

if all that fails id go for a service

my 500 did this to me the other day dog. i just turned it off for about a 1 minute. unplugged the power supply, then plugged it back up and turned the 500 on...it worked after that. im pretty sure it has to do with the power supply.

This does sound like power supply issues. I've had similar things happen with other gear - spontaneous reboots and locking up when turning on. I got a mains filter thing and have had fewer problems ever since. Won't help of course, if you have a dodgy wallwart.
