So Ive got both of Croup's Dirty, and Filthy drum sample volumes(for those that don't know, really good bang for your buck).

As I was saving them to my newly acquired Sandisk Ultra II 2gb CF card I noticed a lot of these samples are over 8 characters......."oh sh-it, I says" Thinking to myself, I remember reading something about to mpc1000 not reading anything over 8 characters...

Is there a way to efficiently remedy this snag..?.

Hey man, file and folder names can be up to 16 characters in length in the MPC1000. Perhaps you are thinking of old PC/MS DOS limitations, where filenames/folders could not be over 8 characters long... If you do have filnames/folders over the 16 character limit, use a batch file renaming utility to reduce the number of characters in each sample/folder. Think this is right anyways...

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply,

Im gonna do some more research, but I believe anything over 8 characters can give you errors, or duplicates...something weird like that... Although I might be wrong, anyone else care to chime in?

Either way, I still have some over 16 characters, 18 I believe..

Anyone with batch file renaming utility experience have recommendations?
