Footswitch

What all can be used in the footswitch ports? Like, would I be able to use something like a Drum Trigger here as well?

The manual doesn't say specifically what type of footswitch...only that a footswitch can be used. Please share anything you uncover.

yea... i will... im hoping i can use this(or these) with like a drum trigger so i can play claps and stuff live during an performance on stage while im playing the set

the footswitch is a contact switch, not the on/ off type. You can use both but the on/off type you have to tap twice every time you want it to work. Drum triggers must also work. For example y tried the footswitch for the yamaha drum pads and it works great for programing kick drums

Can you please explain a lil more or better? Are you saying they will work with Drum Triggers properly, or to play something like a clap, i would have to tap it twice to play one clap sound or what?

there are two types of footswitches in the market, the on/off type (such as for changing from one channel to another in a guitar amp) and the contact switch (such as a sustain pedal for a piano or a drum trigger)
they basically do the same thing in function
the difference between the two is that the contact switch works as long as you keep it pressed (sustain pedal example)
the on/off turns on when you press it once, and keeps on until you press it again

drum triggers do work with the footswitch (if you connect a Pad to the footswitch port it will work)
but I would go for a drum module with all the triggers and connect them MIDI. Because of the amount of pads you can add

oh ok... preciate that for breaking it down.... I just need two of em, i thought about the Roland joint to add with it, which i may or maynot do later, it just depends, but right now, I just need two of em

then try to get two contact foot switches. Look at the Yamaha FC5 sustain footswitch, or the Boss FS-5U non latching footswitch, or the Boss FS-6. I would personally go for the Boss FS-6 (because it's 2 footswitches in 1 housing). It depends on how you want to set up your gear

I was going to actually try a drum pad trigger for 1 shots on claps and other stuff

I doubt a drum trigger would work because most of them send an audio signal from a sensor. That's how it sends velocity. Softer hit = lower level, harder hit = louder level.
The switches are probably just switch closes like a footswitch that comes with most keyboards.

I'm having a friend of mine who has some triggers to come over a try them out. I'll let you guys know when I do it

ok, cool... i use to have some, but i sold them on ebay like an idiot, the same day I sold my Roland SPD-S

the spd's are great for triggering, either live or recording!!!

Dont even wanna talk about that story... but it was for a time when i stopped playing out with peeps... so i thought my time was over... until a few months ago

I know...old topic....but didn't want to create a knew one with the same subject.

Anyways....i have an old Roland DP-2 footswitch...and thought that this could come in handy to trigger the samples iso. pushing F5/Play.

So set the footswitch to F5....and checked my HD for samples....but noticed that when i press the switch that no sample is being played....

I see the name of the sample selected though...and it looks like it wants to load it....but no loading or playing is happening.

All other functionality for the footswitch works perfect....but F5/Play isn't.

Anybody else noticed this....or am i using the wrong footswitch (latched/non-latched type)...?
