Getting started with the MPC 1000

Aight people I need some serious advice. I am new to the producer game. I am trying to make beats for hip hop. I know I want to sample a little but I also wanna keep it a original. I have the 1k plus an IBM T40 labtop. I know for a fact this is what i need

1) Computer program (Leaning towards Reason 2.5)
2) Turntables (Maybe the Numark TT-X1 because I dont wanna buy a mixer)
3) Some nice monitors
4) Nice headphones
5) Echo soundcard

I got about a 6 grand budget over the next year but I dont know what to buy next. Im trying to build my pre production studio piece by piece. So what should I get next? Give me suggestions.

a good mic eg. rode nt-1a
a good keyboard eg. triton
use a sequencer like pro tools, which is the best one.

down with NT-1, got one and they rock, although good mics pic up so much ambient sound you got to set up your environment right...

a good mixer - i use a mackie 1402 vlz and love it, everyone has their own favourites though...

get some FX units - good idea is to get one top quality one (lexicon) and one cheaper one for hands on tweaking/fun - don't knock guitar pedals too, a lot of people use them as their secret weapons

Get Reason 2.5 and Ableton 4 (when it comes out this summer) - you'll be glad you did

Get a MBOX and a Macintosh or Personal Computer made by whoever...

skip on the echo and I use my DJ headphones (black Sonys - I have no idea what they're called)

those monitors "with the white cone" are history man. if you dont even know what they are called then you dont know what you are talking about

as for "skip on the echo" what the **** are you on about.... are you trying to tell me you have all this gear but dont use a decent audio card?

what the **** has your shitty dj headphones got to do with the fact that this kid needs an audio card?
