Hi, I'm going to be using my MPC 1K live with a band and have decided to do away with my controller keyboard to control my external synth and use the MPC instead. I want to be able to trigger internal MPC samples and the external synth using the same pads. I have pads assigned to trigger samples in MPC and the same pad set to send midi note data to synth to play which is no problem when I want them both playing (I set program in main screen to transmit on midi channel 1A). However, once I have set a program to transmit on midi channel I can't figure out how to mute certain pads from not sending out midi data and just play the assigned sample instead (it would be to tricky to switch programs during song so I have to use same program throughout song).
I am using JJ OS2 and in the Program mode, I can set the midi note under AMP but there's no 'OFF' setting so a midi note is always selected and transmjitting. I hope this makes sense and I hope I'm not doing something stupid as I am a newbie (though I used to use the glorious Akai S1000.. class!). Any help much appreciated! Cheers

you don't, it's not possible

just assign the samples to different pads and mute them independently of the midi

Can you clarify what that means, not sure I follow?

I've figured a workaround as well, my synth has up to 4 split key zones so I can assign 1 zone to play nothing and set the midi channel on the MPC to transmit using that midi note. Bit clunky but it works..
