mpc and midi and mac

I saw these simple midiman cables that go from midi to mpc...will this sync up my mpc with digitlal performer and deck and peak and such? also, who else here runs a mpc with a mac? any setups that work nicely...

all you should need are midicables. if you don't have a midi interface for your computer you could be talking about those joystick port midi cables which give one in and one out. not sure if they work on macs tho.

Which version of the Mac OS are you running? Which model Mac is it? If it's a newer Mac with USB, the Midiman shite should work fine. If you're running OSX, then it should be even easier. I haven't hooked up the MPC to my Mac yet, but I've never had problems with hooking up other gear with MIDI in OSX. OS9 is another story because you need to use OMS drivers to get MIDI to work. Everyone hates OMS. It's like using a Commodore 64. It's ancient and until OSX, there was no other option.

Hey eightsixteen , holla at ya boy , I need some words. I got the G3 laptop with the Motu Fastlane USB midi interface and I'm running OS9. This thing sucks! Now , I'm no midi expert , but I'm pissed off. I cant even get this crap to work. I do everything the cdrom asks and I still get nothing. Is it the OMS stuff? I've had this thing since August and I just put in a box because I could never get it working. I simply do all my recordings at home without the use of midi and you can imagine how much time that takes. I am very interested in cutting that down and stepping up my midi game. Man, I've been out of the OS9 Midi thing for a while now mostly because I hated it when I was there. My first piece of advice would be to upgrade to OSX because the Midi control is flawless (as far as I can tell). But we all know upgrading to OSX will probably create more problems than solving the one you currently have with Midi. The thing with OMS is that I simply can't figure it out even when I follow instructions. They way I got it to work was based on pure luck. I'm not joking, it's that bad. Sometimes you have to configure it and then immediately restart the computer just to get it to recognize the changes you had made. I wish I could help more, but as I said it's been a while. Quite honestly this is one of the major reasons I dumped my laptop and bought an MPC instead. It's so much more simple and straight to the point, but in this day and age the computer is too beneficial to pass up entirely. Anyways, enough philosophy. I would suggest going on some search engines and trying to find any info you can about the OS9 and OMS especially if you're using certain music programs. Sorry.
