Combine this with a program of non destructive chops in os2 and set each start point at the beginning of a syllable or whatever and set the endpoint at the end of the FULL sample for every chop (you can set this up in the old chop style too..) and you can bounce in and out like you would with a regular turntable and have the whole sample keep playing afterwards.

That's pretty much all I do. Have you tried it usein bolth the fader's one for the hi's and one for the low's.

. I do all chops by hand tho, I only got OS3.08 and that chop shop turn's stereo samples to mono . Pain in the azz but some sample need to be in stereo. Infact all.

When you slice a sample you gotta make sure its a real close slice. Every sample is diff. When your doin the Doogins make sure your only tappin it ever so slightly With quik movements of the Qlink Always returning to the zero position. So evey time you tap a pad You take the Qlink from 0 to 120 (or what ever) back to zero by the time you let go of the pad.

Not everything sounds right being pitched up so you might wanna try doin the opposite and take it down.

Let me first mention that you are 100% correct, the sample does entire matter! I was scratching my head trying to get a pink noise/white noise looped sample to sound similar to how it does when scratching a record... it doesn't. Vocals certainly sound good though, and it's a handy trick to have obviously so even if it isn't 100% for every sample, no biggie.

I will add a few thoughts though...

1) It is important to trim the start of the sample to be dead balls on, otherwise you'll never know when it is going to come in if you have too much silence in the start.

2) This seems to work way better when your program/samples are set to mono, and I prefer it to have note on so that I can control how long the sample plays. This also makes it less important to return to zero to start the next scratch... now you can scratch up/down or in the middle it really doesn't matter. Also make sure that the amplitude release is set to 0, it'll sound much more like a DJ cut when you let go of the pad in the middle of the sample.

3) Less can be more, you don't have to throw the slider the whole way either, sometimes that subtle warble sounds good too.

4) If you've got aftertouch setup, try playing with sample start or filter settings with it, just to get a bit more control with the pads.

Anyway... cool trick, I had used it to get some glide sounding effects on some basses, I hadn't even thought about scratching with it. Thanks for sharing!

oh, ive just invented a way of switching on the MPC, all you gotta do is this: push in the power button, then release it, voila! its turned on!, i'll call it the BeePower.

all knowledge exist already but it's peoples responsibility to keep passing it on so it's
nice when someone shares a thought that means something to someone else........not everyone else of course.

If you read the first post I never used the word invented , also I explained I've never seen anyone post about it Here ,youtube or anywhere else for that matter.

As far as the beepower goes I think someone beat you to the punch. Like Akai and there instruction manuel.
