Every one starting out wants to know ish like this.
I personally learned a lot from finding out what other people sampled, and that knowledge led me to other dope stuff that I never would have found out about otherwise.
Mind you, I found out what a lot of other people sampled by accident when digging, and only asked when I was stumped and really wanted to know.
BTW, did the man get paid yet? 
Yeah I understand the whole learning what artists your favorite producer sampled to get you headed in the right direction as far as diggin' goes. But people just hear a beat from dudes who are in the same "bedroom/recreational producer" situation that they are in and decide "ooh that's a nice beat, lemme see if someone else knows what it is so I can sample it too". Buddy said it best....What happened to being original??
I feel a sense of "I'm heading in the right direction/I got a good ear" when I sample something that hasn't been used, and a known producer flips it. Like I flipped the Carl Douglas sample Premo used for the Classic remix back in '99 when my boy (whose record it was) wanted me to flip the "Kung-Fu Fighting" jawn. I was trying to convince him...nah that "Dance The Kung Fu" is the heat on this one that needed to be flipped.
Or when Dusty Kid had told me that he was supplying the records to his peoples who were putting out the Pete's Treats LP. I had the Freddie Scott LP and when he showed me the records, I was like "what did Pete use on here" cause I was strictly tapping one song on there (back in 89) and didn't even know Pete touched another song on it because I hadn't bothered to sample from it in 10 years.
