Trouble downloading an OS

Ive been trying to upload a new operating system. I downloaded 1.20 OS from Akaipro.com to a compact flash card. Then i but the flash card in my MPC and the LCD screen says only GENERIC IDE. So i tried formatting the card on my friends MPC ( which is exactly like my 2000xl). Now when i tied to download the OS off of Akaipro.com my CPU is telling me the card cannot be formatted, therefore i cannot save the OS to my card. Is there any way to get out of this tangled mess of technology?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you could only upgrade the os from a floppy drive.

no to get 1.20 os you need a mcd and a CF card

Have you tried:

format <card drive letter> /FS:FAT

from commandline?


I remember having trouble formatting a card once and this did the trick for me.
