How can you cut off a sample at midlength?

Let's say you hit a sample that is 4 minutes long how can you stop the sample from playing? On the 3000 and 2000 I would enter the record mode and the sample would get cut off and stop playing.

press the stop button 3 times in rapid succession. this will stop the output of any audio and dead all midi notes also.
