Whatever happened to Akai's Track Mute Group function?

In Akai OS, there was a Group tab (F2) on the Track Mute page that allowed you to group track mutes together (ie. mute many tracks by pressing one pad). JJ seems to have dumped it, or can it be done some other way?

hey rozzer, was this on the 2500? because im 99.9999% sure it wasnt on the akai os...and your not thinking of the pad mute groups?
I even loaded up 2.11 to check...man im greatful i dont have to use that!

Yes it's 2500, I'm sure it was the same on the 1000 (I could be wrong - let me know if it appears on your 1000). It was in the Akai OS, and it's different to Pad Mute Groups. It's Track Mute Groups, and I miss it

yeah ive checked the 2500 manual, i think they added that in on v.1.2 for the 2500

"Pads can now be grouped together, so hitting one pad will affect the other pads in the same group. MUTE GROUP is accessed by pressing [F2] (GROUP) from the TRACK MUTE page."

Its not on the akai 1000 os. Its a pretty cool idea though.

Well well, I had assumed that the OSs were the same. Thanks for pointing it out.

Regardless is was a killer feature. You could even group two (or more) tracks whilst they were in opposite states (ie one muted and one not) and it would toggle the state of both tracks with only one pad press. It really added to the Track Mute live experience.

I've mailed JJ to ask, do the same if you think you'd like to see it (and I'm guessing he already has the code for it, unless he changed stuff under the hood).

hey Rozzer, i'm curious: how did the q-links work with tracks when they were grouped?

i'd like to be able to use the qlinks to, say, change the attack values on a bunch of tracks at once, yet still be able to keep them as seperate tracks so i could mute them independently. currently, the q-links only work on the active track.

That's always been true. Can't see it changing.
