Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By UnderRated2007 Thu Sep 04, 2008 4:07 am
I did a horrible thing... I unplugged a scsi zip drive and plugged in another scsi zip drive into my MPC 2000 while it was stilled turned on! The machine froze and when I turned it off it made some popping sounds and they remained until I physically unplugged the power cord.

Now my machine won't come on at all. Maybe the power supply? The main fuse is not blown but I put a new one in anyway. Still nothing.

I looked over forums and looked for this problem and this usually sounds like it would blow the scsi fuse... but I don't see how the scsi fuse blowing would cause the machine to not power up... I'm scared the scsi fuse was already blown before I plugged in the scsi drive with the power on and this did further damage. I read it could fry my termination power regulator... What is that???

Anybody have any insight? Power supply maybe and hopefully...

Thanks a lot.

besides changing the fuse, just about anything else on the MPC2000 requires deep surgery. You damn near have to take the WHOLE thing apart just to add ram to it..I'm so glad they redesigned it with the XL model.
The good thing s that once you do it a few times, it's easy, but that very first time is a mutha!
Good luck! :)
