i think the 2000xl is a great machine
the only big lack is the direct preview from zip/card as 1000/2500

anybody know if it is an hardware limit or could be a custom os add this function?
my 2 cents opinion of course

That is where I use CDxtract on my PC with sample CDs, compact flash cards, whatever. It allows me to easily audition every sample in my library, so I know what I have and what might fit my needs for a particular track. While it isn't as easy as the audition features some samplers have, with a little planning, you can easily preview any and all samples in your library.

yep. with me I use sound forge to preview many sounds at one time very quickly.

find what I want, open mpc editor or awave, make a program with those sounds, pgm and samples in the same folder, and place onto a cf. then into my 2kxl internal mcd.

Sound Forge is the sht for this! Plus if you are a Dj, it comes bundled with CDArchitect for tracking down/editing long mixes for burning to cd.

In fact, I JUST did this the other day for a friend of mine who had a bunch of sougs and he wanted the ends to blend together by 2 seconds with no pause but still have track time markers, good lil program. Underated and/or slept on imo.
