MPC vs. SP-1200 for chopping....

I've just recently got the urge to get back into making beats. I've had my SP-1200 since 1992. I pretty much mastered it. I was thinking about getting an s-950 for more sample time and time stretching. On my search for a 950, I came across on article on how much easier it is to chop up beats on an mpc 1000 than an SP-1200.
My dilema now is do I get an s-950 to midi up to my sp-1200 or do I just get an mpc 1000 to do everthing. Can anyone explain to me how much EASIER it is to chop up samples on an mpc than an sp??

lol come on man. 1987 technology vs 2004 technology. I mean...

q-link sliders
11 mins max sample time vs 10 sec.
non destructive chopping (with or without JJos...read up on the extract option)
chopshop (...if your into that)

so many reasons. read manuals.

lol.....wow. I just went to youtube for some online tuts on the 1000. Just the fact that you can actually chop up a whole bar in ONE SHOT had me sold. To chop up a bar on a sp-1200 and keep it on beat would take a long time. My only regret is I'm going to have to learn a new machine all over again. I loved my sp so much that I never used anything else. I guess it's finally time for me to get with the times.

Let me tell you this, mastering an mpc is quite easy to learn. And basically it's the same as an sp12: sample and chop. Program and sequence. Edit and arrange.

And if you buy the JJ OS for the mpc, you only have to click ur heels three times to get ur chops the way u want them. Works way faster then the akai OS.

true.... I've been listening to mpc beats all day on youtube. The only drawback I can see is it lacks that 12 bit puch. Hopefully I can find a way to eq it....

true.... I've been listening to mpc beats all day on youtube. The only drawback I can see is it lacks that 12 bit puch. Hopefully I can find a way to eq it....


12 bit punch can be emulated on computer daw, not even a worry. Move to 1k, now. lol.

or I can just midi it up to my sp-1200 for drums and baselines....just thought of that..lol


props on the feedback..when I'm up and running again I'll post some beats, old and new.

Plus you can use your 950 for its old school features like filtering, or resampling it to the 12 bit standards you so prefer.
