MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I was unsure at first considering the reviews, but this is a badass machine! I have owned at some point every MPC except the 60, and this might be one of my favorites. I am not a sample-lop heavy dude, so some of the issues alot of folk have i probably ain't gonna notice. I was using a Fantom-G to sequence for awhile, but I was just missing that KNOCK for some reason. I don't like using software to sequence, I don't know why it just don't feel natural. This 5K reminds me of a 08 version of a 3000.(Especially the screen) It has the same bounce and warmth and it DEFINITELY sounds louder and warmer to me than the 2500 i had a while back. I'm gonna vnture into the HD recording and using it with Sampletank this weekend. For my needs, it's a cool box, I like all the sounds and loops they give you as well, although i gotta get the new OS to speed up these loads! Also wanna see what this ADAT feature is capable of! My whole plan is to get all my keyboard/MP tracks into Logic/Ableton/PT as fast as possible(any tricks to do this is appreciated) Anyway, whassup y'all im in the game.

Happy for you big dog.

DON'T place pics of your crib in the STUDIO thread. People have been getting jacked lately.

Have fun and post up any 5k techniques you wish to share later on...

Scam artists take those pictures and use them as their own on fake ebay auctions. I think thats what he meant.

my 3rd day in with this baby and it sounds better each time! I think Akai must have put some better converters in this thing, cuz it got a phat sound. I think the mp4k was a good machine too, but i like this better, it just has a certain fullness and analog warmth character to it. My R&B joints are already sounding better, the drums even make my keyboards sound better if that makes any sense. I am alot happier with this machine's sound than i was with my cheesy sounding Fantom...

Fantom...cheesy? Do you talk about Roland's Fantom? Maybe you should plug it into something more electric, maybe a set of monitors not these battery driven iPod-speakers. (I know, off topic, but I couldn't resist or it's only great to hear in Europe running on 230V.)

This is great, I was thinking of buying a 5K but was listening to some of the reviews here and thought too much about it and did not get it. Now I think I want one again. Great to hear you just plunged right in. That's what I am going to have to do.
