what do u guys do when ur done with a beat?
- I record each track stereo seperate into cubase and do all my EQ's on my computer.
- Does anyone use the mpc for that and then just dump one track onto ur computer. Just curious, i've heard of recording two tracks at once hard panning to the left and right. but never tried it, i just think when u do everything seperate u have more control.
-I'm thinking of purchasing the ADAT expansion for my 4k and recording into cubase like that, then i'd be able to do 8 tracks at once in half the time, anybody use ADAT with the 4k?
-Also i have one problem when i mix my beats down, my computer starts to get slow and stutter after about 5 tracks. Don't know why? it has pentium 4 2.4, 1 gig of ram, and 2seperate hard drives. I called stienberg and they said to put cubase on the main drive with the operating system. Does anyone know if this would help becuase i installed it on a seperate drive thinking it would be better. Thanks-

install it wherever u have windows installed (main HD)
to optimize ur pc check out this article:
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Mar02/a ... an0302.asp

but after u add eq+fx+automation on all ur stereo trax its gonna be shaky even with a pentium 4 and 1gig ram, save often, restart whenever u feel its gonna crash and defrag allthe time. it all depends on ur sound card.

get the adat for ur outs itll make ur life much easier
and no its almost impossible to mix on the mpc.

if after u do all this u still get problems, sell everything and get a digital recorder if u can.

hope this helps

make sure ur drives are 7200 rpm, turn off any anitvirus or autmatic run programs, turn off screen savers and power save mode.., use win 2000 pro, but if you use xp turn of all the unneeded options, and my experience dont use this pc for internet, get another pc for that.... cause i had cubase sx running on a p3 500 with 384 meg. ram and had no problems (maxed at 27 tracks with effects on all) once i did those adjustments.. so your p4 should be flawless

Thanks for the inputs i'm gonna wipe my hard drives and start over but this time install cubase on my main drive. then just save all my audio files on the other. so the easiest way would be to get the ADAT expansion, i thought so but just wanted to make sure. i never used it before, it seems simple just one cable and 8 chanels.

- by the way does anybody know any good resources for information on mixing, for EQ purposes. -Thanks
