Hello mpc'ers. I had 2 quick questions about the mpc 1000:

1.) I'm coming from that akai os 2.1 and upgrading to the jjos. Am I able to update to os 2, or do I have to buy os 1. I was also wondering do I have to pay everyytime jj decides to make a new os like os3,os4, etc?

2.) about the mpc pad fix kit. How long does it usually for ppl to recieve that from mpcstuff/vst since they are on backorder?

BTW (I was reading that the jjos had the autochromatic feature. Is this like the asr keyboard where you can assign multiple samples and decide the pitch range for each sample? or does it just take 1 sample and split it across the keyboard?)

hello,

you have to pay for os1 before getting os2. Moreover, I think os3 4 or 5 (major upgrades) just like os2 would not be free.

os1 has autochromatic assignement and os2 has instrument program (i guess you can use keygroups in instruments program but I'm not sure)

i dont know if there would ever be an os3, not as long as os2 continues to be regularly updated anyway.

I just installed the jjos. I found a problem where I have to press the mode button really hard for it to flash. Is there a way to fix it, because I didnt experience this problem in the akai os 2.1

you should load up 2.1 again to double check, i think its unlikely that its the JJ os that's causing the problem, it might just be coincidental that you installed it as your button was dying.

if the problem is JJ only let us know which OS version your running

Nope. I haven't had this problem b4 I installed os1. All the other buttons repsond perfectly. I just ordered some new buttons from mpc stuff except this button. I think I might reinstall this os. BTW how long does it take to receive a pad kit from mpc stuff? I know its on backorder.

this is a hardware issue, not an OS issue. the timeliness is just coincidental

the default mixer settings are different. so you have to make some re-adjustments, and save them when you're done.

Aight I appreciated the advice. I got 2 more questions & imma bounce. About the pads, any1 know how long they are on backorder? Also, what's the best way 2 sample from a cd player in2 the 1000? I hear fuzz sounds whenever I pause the player.

not sure how long the pads will be on back-order. but keep checking with VST. send them an email. as soon as they arrive, place your order before they run out again.

as far as the cd player is concerned...
what kind of cd player do you have?
what type of connections are on the back?
if you only have analog outputs, try lowering the mpc's regord gain knob.
also make sure you didn't connect the analog output of the cd player into the digital input of the mpc. you'll need an RCA - to - 1/4" adaptor for that.
if you have a digital output on your cd player (RCA type coax), make sure that you're using a 75 ohm digital coax cable. standard RCA cables won't work well when used on a digital connection.

appreciate the feedback. im rocking a cd player like this

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DE220-CD-Pla ... 43&sr=1-15

it has 1 1/8 output, so i got a stereo 1/8 to stereo 1/4 stereo plug into it

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... age=search

Then I have a single 1/4 cable going form thay plug into this y adapter

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... age=search

which goes into the mpc's inputs.

BTW it only makes that fuzzy static sound whenever I stop the cd from playing not when im playing it. ive connected this cd to my keyboard as well, and get the same results.

I was told I'm at the top of the list for the pad replacement @ vst, he said it will take longer than 6-8 weeks. Its been longer than that. I hope they come in soon. I have 3 pads dead including the pad to load. Now my save pad is dying.

switch around the pads so that the dead pads are placed where you're less likely to use them.
otherwise, you could try all the repair methods we've done in the past until your order arrives.
