Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Forax Sat Jan 26, 2008 3:41 am
Does the MPC 2000 have a dedicated track mute screen where all 16 pads can be used to mute/unmute tracks? I was over at a friend's studio, but we could not find this screen as I'm familiar with the MPC 1000 and not the 2000. Is this something that was only added in the 2000xl?

yes it is there...its just hiding... on the main screen just to the right of the selected track you will see On:Yes move the cursor to that, hit open window.

Cant record the track mutes but u can go to the mute screen. I love it. I use it all the time for building/arranging my tracks.

Here is how
Go to your main screen while your seq is playing.
to the right of your track number you have "on" (or "off" if that track is muted) .Highlight "on" now open window...
There it is the same track mute screen the mpc2000xl has.

Now by pressing your drum pads is will mute out tracks.

I had played with the 2k several times but never saw that. I never knew that, learn something everyday...

Yea man... It's not in the manual. There are a few things that seem to have popped up that aren't in the manual...

alot of times just fucing around with it and just trying new things out of the norm ,you come across some pretty useful tips, or shortcut's, some like a longer process to making beats other like a faster process, both are great but ,i get lazy in the summer time and no AC in the studio ..i'm better off bring in the mpc and fiddling with some sounds and try to experiment on new ways to make beats

it's a pain moving it out of the studio when it's your main piece.

Here too :D
Thanks guys!
I like the 2000 classic for it's sound (much harder!!) than the XL.
One important thing I was missing till today on the 2000 classic was the pad/track mute.
