Time stretch?

Hey to all,

I am still new at this mpc 1000 thing.
after I have a sample(full length sample)
how and when do I time slice?
is it in the slice/trim mode?
I have a feeling this will help some of my tracks.

I am a 33 yr old hip hop junkie, who has alwys wanted to
make grimey hip hop......I am doin it, sort of....

I just need some help with the time stretch...thanks to all

Let say you got a beat on seq 1 and a mell that dosn't fit .Go to a new seq and rec the mell that did'nt fit . It won't be the same bpm.
while still in the new seq Hit pad 6 (Trim) then f6 (edit) scroll to the right to timestretch . Change new tempo to the original seq tempo and press do it.

If it gets to be a big gap in bpm it gets to be destrutive of sound quality. Sometimes it sounds cool tho.



another cool thing with the timestretch is, lets say you have a sample playin in a beat that's 80 bpm. take that sample go to trim pad 6, then edit . Scroll to the timestretch is and put in the new bpm double or half. for instense take it from 80 to 40 , keep as a new sample, then go to program and set the tune plus 12 of it original setting. lets say you had it at 3.53 , you woul want to make it 15.53. (on a new pad of course cause you don't want to mess with the old sample.)

Just a little trick to make things more full soundin. give it a try

Or are you talkin bout chopin samples. Everyone does it different

If your sample has drums ,try makin cuts at the kick, snare, hat etc.
Or if its just a mell o d, cut at the note changes.

I have been messing with it a lil......

if the original sample is played at 115.8bpm
and I record alot of my stuff at 99.9 bpm

will time stretching this sample be a better fit....if it is the same length as the bar??

It might mess with the quality , But I like the results most the time.

are you using a turntable for sampling? if so, i try to put the sample at the speed i wanna make the beat at, or close it, cuz time stretching bites on the 1000 (in my opinion) . . . so i luckily have the turntbable (with serato) and it tells me the bpm, i try to match the sample bpm with the bpm that the record is playing, let work to do with the samples when you're ready to mess with them . .
