Is there trully a difference in sound quality coming out of the 500, versus the 3000,1000,2000xl and 2500. Lets end this myth today. I hear people knocking the 500 like its this or it don't sound like the 3000. Where you at Lamp or eimer drop some knowledge. Cause according to the comparison sheet, all mpcs are 16 bit and same sample rates are the same , minus the 60 which is 12 and the 4000 which is 24. So whats the deal? I guess I'm referring to the converters. How can there be a sound difference if the mpc 500 has the same specs as most of the other mpc's?:)

What I mean lamp is that there is no difference in sound between your 2000 and my 500, or am I wrong? I can take the critism, fam.

i've tried both the 1k and the 2kxl and i own the 500. after using them i think there is a difference in sound but that might be due to the monitors. it really doesn't matter though because it still sounds great and if you export the songs into your pc then you can just edit it there. i'm finding this machine very worth it. hope this helps.

Different DAC converters = Different sound, so yes.

The 500 colors the sound more than the 1000 and up.

Eimer, what do you mean by colors the sound! :)

Well, its hard to explain. The DAC's on the mpc-500 is different from the other models which means that it collors the sound in another way. When you play the same sample on the 1000 and the 500 you would notice that the sound is more phat on the 500.

Thanks eimer, so it seems that the cheapest model has the phattest sound, excellent!

I've played with a 3k hooked up directly to active monitors before (been a while though).

There is a guy here who I met, a newb, he decided to buy a 500, he got it in mail and I helped him through
some of the manual, we hooked it up the 500 to my active speaker system in my
office.

I've played with the 4k hooked up to active monitors (been a while though).

I also have my 2kxxlse2 (think orange)here with me. 500 sounds a small bit more clear than my 2kxl.

3000 had the most punch as far as I remember.

I remember the 4k was clean and more pristine sounding than my 2kxl, 500 and 3000.

They don't all sound the same, that doesn't mean bad or good, just different.

Colouring of sound is the circuitry involved when sound passes through it.
Different circuitry equals different sound, easy.

JUST like different car engines may sound slightly different to very different.
