asr 10 vs asr x

Getting my check on friday, thinking of making a purchase towards one of these.. Isnt the Asr X the most recent addition of the Asr Series? I got to mess around with the Asr 10 a couple of months ago, i fell in love with that machine. Just looking for some reviews, tried the search thread, nothin came up.

I have never heard complaints about the asr 10 sequencer, but I can't say the same for the asr x pro.

The ASR X pro did make a very good first impression on me, so I went and bought another one (like an idiot). It really is a great piece, the stock drums sound warm and gritty. Definitely get an expansion card if u can.

I was considering getting an ASR10 Rack, but I'm holding out for a Kurzweil K2000rs. 760ppqn, yum.

i personally like the red and black asr x but! the asr10 is my favorite machine of all time. you can make a snare and pitfart sound like a double plat hit!

Get the keyboard.

Between the two, get the ASR-10 by far. anyone that tells you to get the asrx INSTEAD of the asr, ignore them forever homie.

the asr-x sequncer and interface suck, not only that but the knobs are buggy values jumps all over the place.

I have both and can tell the asr10 is way more solid and you dont need software to do layering of WS.

However the asrx does have a place in a lab. for sound, FX, Sound and FX and nice filters.


The asr's are the best sounding samplers PERIOD!!!

You need to ask yourself this....

Are you planning on using wav files in your library or buying sample packs ect?
If so the ASR X reads Wav and the ASR 10 does not..

You can however convert wavs to asr 10 format but you will need a 150 dollar program called Translator

If you are strictly sampling all your sources this will not be an issue however I know numerous folks who found that format dilema frustrating..

If you do get an ASR 10 get one with SCSI as they do not all have it..

I have made tons of beats on the ASR X Asr X Pro and ASR 10 and can saty the sequencer is a bit more quirky on the ASR X /...I survived it and actually like some of the stuff I did better because it was a bit quirky..

Also the ASRX has internal sounds and the ability to house an EXP 3 ( Urban (Which is the s--t ) , World or Piano 32mb expansion rom for tons more internal sounds making it closer to a Workstation Keyboard than simply a sampler keyboard ..

The ASR 10 will cost you more to bring it up to modern compataibility with the Translator Pro SCSI ect but it is an awesome keyboard..

They are almost completley different aside from the fact they have the Ensoniq sound and that they are samplers..

Remember the ASR 10 was released in 1992 and the X in 1997 ..

I have no experience with an ASRX, just an asr 10. I think the asr 10 is nice in the fact that it is actually a keyboard. So, for me, even though i have another contoller, it just simplfies my midi setup by taking that out of the equation. I feel like the ASR 10 has enough "quirks" as is too, i hear people really having trouble with ASR X's. Lastly, i think it's best not to look at them as the same machine in a different form because they really arn't in many ways. I know this isn't a good "solution", i'm just saying why i would still gravitate towards the ASR 10. I would like to mess around with an ASR X for fun, just to see what it is about but i don't know that if i bought one, it would stay in my studio after i "learned" it.

I did the fix. I also heard contact cleaner works.

is your mpc 2kxl used as a all in one box?

i dont see home most dudes make beats with JUST a mpc 60/3000/2000

I guess ensoniq made me spoiled , i need a sampler in the equation.

I ended up selling it and getting a less powerful but better interface and user friendly 2kxl.

It was a wrap after that.



Dont you miss the sound of the asr?

Anybody here synced a ASR-10 to Pro Tools? I have a friend who has 1 & wants to dump his tracks into PT so I can mix them. I searched the net and haven't found much info on it.
