Do I need one of these LCD covers?

I just ordered a replacement clear button for my 1k and I was wondering if I need one of these:

I hope not, as I didn't order one. When I go to crack this thing open, I'll see if there is an old one, but I don't remember seeing one. Thanks.

That piece is above the LEDs. Light from the LED passes through it and you see it in the casing. You wont need that.
