If what I have read is true, and that is that JJ is a previous Akai employee and actually stole the code from the 1000 and used that as a basis for the JJOS then I would pay ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
If it's not true then I would pay ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, as the 500 already does what I need it too. If you want more buy the 1000.

I'd definitely throw down a solid $40 for this, maybe more. Depends on what benefits would come from switching.

JJ left Akai long before the MPC500. So he doesn't have the code, like the MPC1000/2500
JJ also mentioned that he would not make an OS for the 500.
This was all discussed quite a while ago.
Just thought I'd mention it here for those who haven't read earlier threads on this topic.

well i think they said it, jj isn't gonna come out with an os for the 500. i would be willing to pay about 40 or 50 though, especially if saving is easier. i haven't had problems saving sequences or programs on mine, but saving projects f*cks things up half the time i try, which is why i usually dont. its confusing too, too many things to keep track of for saving, when comparing saving on a daw. but now that the new os 1.31 is out, i downloaded it but haven't saved projects yet. anybody try or still have saving bugs with the new os?

if your sayin it couldnt be any easier to save on an mpc, then you never saved on a daw cause daws are only 1 click save.

A guy from akai hit me on the email earlier, I asked if direct record would be on the next update. This is what he wrote.
Thank you for your suggestions! I have not heard of plans for these features
to be added though I would be glad to submit this to the engineers.

LOL. Akai are SIMPLY AMAZING they really go the extra mile with their gold-standard customer service and their incredible intuition for the needs of their loyal MPC customers...
