slammin hiphop

i bought "slammin hiphop" sample cd off ebay, theres bangin hiphop and some other crap.

after waiting a damn long time to get it, it sucks.. seems like it was just peiced together from free sample cd's lol

Most sample CD's suck indeed! Though Zero-G has a few good ones. Most of them are non-commerciel tho..
I have Dark Side of Triphop and its quite good! (All chopped vynil pieces)

Tip: Get records!

I could never figure out how someone that is serious about getting into music production would even consider buying sample cds.....

Everyproducer wants to come up with their own sound and how can you do that when your tryin to use sample cds that everyone has access too....lol

And what about records? Doesnt everyone have access to them to? Me and you can go to the city and buy 'A portrait of James Brown' (in stock in every shop) and sample the second break from track 4 (for example).

Its not completly the same, but...

I see records as sample CD's, but on vynil! There are hundreds of cool records with only beats and samples wich anybody can buy and sample from!

Findin hot drums, sounds, is half the battle....
makin them work and makin them your own is the other half......

look at how many posts there are on the net where people are lookin for "hot" drum sounds

how many people do I see with this problem. s'why I got myself a 60. guys I know can't believe what I go through to get a good kick drum - "Why don't you just use XXX prog. it's got XXXXXXXXGB of kick samples." Yeah thanks. That'll help....

I prefer acoustic drums.......and yes, sample cd's suck if you're doing hip hop........

...do you have any idea HOW MANY records are out there? Worldwide? Try diggin in San Fran on Haight-Ashbury. Montreal. Shoot, Evil Dee bought a whole store out in Tenn. or Kentucky! Pos Dnous of De La Soul came back from Japan with something like 10,000 records. That comment about "anybody can cop a James Brown CD" was so...short-sighted. Sample CDs will never catch up the Hungry Ear. Never.

I saw the dvd Sratch with the part where DJ Shadow was at his diggin spot....UNbelievable!!!!! until I found a secret spot like that....Watch Out....
