newb question about live performances

whats up people...

quite new to the 2kxl and loving it...still in experimental phrase right now.
i know its no good trying to recreate everything you see on youtube videos but they seem great for inspiration - but i have a question....

when i see people doing a live performance, it seems like they "record" something in, (for say 2 bars, like a bassline before the beat kicks in) but it keeps going, (they dont have to play it anymore) thus freeing up their hands to play other instruments and so on...yet seemingly they can kill it when they want and solo one thing....
now i guess the soloing is just done by opening up the track menu am i right? (altho i dont necessarily see opening up a menu and messing around in there,,and keeping on beat...so a little confused...)

so, the way they keep something looping, are they just overdubbing the whole time..? ie recording a new piece to one lone track? it doesnt seem so..

or is it a case of one button triggering some sequences? i dont think so because some parts of the performance still seem to be played in time etc...

I think it's your basic patterns put into song mode. Plus everybody has their own method of doing what feels comfortable to them.

You might find one person that likes to setup their pad banks with sample loops, and another with instrument samples.

You just have to find what works best for you.

its done from the pad menu, page 35 on the manual...you can program what sequence plays next...i love this machine!

i usually play "live" through track-mute. and then fade/blend sequences in with the Second Sequence function of jj.
