just starting with the mpc 1000

I know everyone has heard this a million times. Ive been playing music ever since I was a kid. Ive just recently got into making beats. as of now Ive made a bunch of beats using just a midi keyboard, pro tools and an interface. I just purchased an mpc 1000. and I wanted to know what else I need to sample records and have a legit set up.

If I have all this am I good to go?

turntable
mixer
pre amp

thanks very much my man i appreciate it. one more question, Ive seen a lot of mpc videos where the producer has a lot of floppy disks. Ive heard that is an easy way to hold all your samples. Is that true? and is there a another main memory unit i need to know about.
I just dont want to buy everything, set it up, and not be able to make some music cause of some little thing i forgot about.

you might want the ram expansion and a big compact flash card (or the HD-10 and a hard drive). didn't see that listed above.

thanks fellas. I dont know what kind of set up you guys have. but my studio is run out of a storage room out towards the back of my place. kinda ghetto. but it works. anyway the only things left I need to get are a mixer and turntable.
I obviously dont need top of the line stuff. just stuff that will function correctly. and can hook up all my equipment.

as far as mixers go.

samson and yamaha make pretty good mixers.

and since you have a mpc 1000, you didn't mention whether or not you have JJ OS. If you haven't gotten it yet, I (along with everyone on this forum) recommend you look into it.

And the difference between RAM and Memory is that

compact flash cards and hard drives are for storage.
RAM is how much your mpc can process at the given moment.

you should definitely get yourself the 128 mb ram expansion (not necessarily the one from akai).

i'm in the market for an audio interface but wanted suggestions on which brands are recommended and had a few question also.

i currently have the following set-up: mpc 2500 w/128mb expansion, turntable, dj mixer, 8-channel usb mixer and a pair of crappy active micro moniters.

i want to get into software like pro tools, ableton, etc... but before i do that, do i need an audio interface? can i go without the interface and still use software?

will the audio interface allow me to record to disc using the computer?

should i consider the add-on cd drive for the 2500?

to make use of the 8 outs on your mpc... you need an interface with 8 ins. i recommend the cheapest one that is still good quality. the M-audio firewire 1814

Definitely check out the Motu Ultralite.
Also, it might be worth getting a softsynth or two.
