I don't know how to hook up my Zip drive to my XL *PICS*

I already emailed them last week, im still waiting on the email. I'm gonna send another one if I don't get a email back from them.

I have that same zip drive. Since it seems you already have the cable hooked up to the mpc , now just connect the other side of the cable to the zip drive, no gender changing needed. I can't remember which of those two is the right socket for it tho.. I'll look it up once I get home and if you haven't gotten it to work by monday then I'll help you out!

Thanks for the help but it still isnt working for me. Everytime I go to the load/save screen it still says "No SCSI device detected." I know i'm powering it up in the correct order it supposed to be & my scsi id is set at 5.
I'm going crazy here, anymore help will be GREATLY appreciated.

This is a longshot, but still: When you go to load you have to set the mpc to the correct scsi as well, have you done that?

Also, if there's not a disk inserted it won't recognize the drive....

That's not a SCSI zip drive. A SCSI zip drive will have a symbol on the back that looks like a diamond. Look on the back of the zip drive.

Directly over the port on the right, is there a picture that looks like a printer or something of that sort? If so, it's a parallel zip drive. Parallel and SCSI sometimes look exactly the same.

The symbol that I see in that pic indicates that it's a Parallel zip drive. I own a SCSI and a Parallel zip and you can hardly tell the difference.

buy a scsi zip n an usb zip drive scsi 4 mpc n usb 4 pc so u can handel the files on pc n use them on mpc

Damn I was sure it was the same as mine.... It really is a small difference!

0nce again it is a zip 100plus drive!! they are scsi or parallel (look at the back notice how it says autodetect when u hook it up it determines if its scsi or parallel ) if u dont belive me look them up on the internet
and yes it is very easy to see the difference between a scsi and a parallell drive all u have to do is look at the back a parallell drive will not have the scsi id

i personally have boxes and boxes of zip drives and i have some zip plus and have used it with the mpc but right now i have a jaz drive hooked up but i will look through my boxes and find one and post the steps how to hook it up i just need some time to get to it but i wont forget but u should have already got it to work so i am worried that u may have blown youre scsi fuse trying to get it hooked up did u ever connect or disconnect the scsi while the mpc was on?

Zip Plus drives might work for a while, but they can fail at any given moment, better to go direct for scsi.

Thank very much, i'd be very greatful if you'd help me out by showing me step by step how to hook it up. I never connected/disconnected while the mpc was on, so i know I didnt blow my fuse, i'm kinda worried now though that when I bought it, it might of already been blown. I keep emailing this guy at scsiforsamplers.com on why its now working & if he cn help me, but this jerk never emails me back. It's already been past a month so I cant return the drive I bought from there.
Im just getting fustrated with this.

Damn...You're right dude. I was hella in disagreement with you. After looking at the pic again, I noticed that to the left of the parallel sign, there's a scsi sign that I could hardly see. This is my first time ever seeing a zip 100plus drive.

okay here is da deal use the cord that came wit the zip (the one on top of the zip in the picture) what u need is a gender bender to make it work the one u got wont work u need a female 25 pin to a male 50 pin (reverse of what kind of gender bender u have now) the cord from the zip goes into the female 25 pin then the male 50 pin goes into the back of the mpc

This is not a SCSI zip drive I had the same problem. They look the same but they are not, Now I bought a SCSI zip drive and I use the other one on my PC.
