Kurzweil???

Any of you-s have any experience on a Kurzweil board, K2500 and up...feelings, feedback, reflection, viewpoints?

I was thinking of copping one of these with the sample option and for a nice base of sounds to get moving with...then mangle with V.A.S.T.

Would this be a legitimate workstation type piece? I would most likely be sampling all my drums and maybe..possibly copping an external sequencer (mpc).

Yeah Kurzweils are dope they are probably one of the most underrated keyboards by far.

They are definetly a big load of pesos and to fully upgrade is a whole 'nother used car type investment but it seems like there plenty of room to grow with v.a.s.t. Everything I've read sounds like you could invest a good 10 years into one of these pieces programming whatever you could think of.

I've got the rack version of the 2500, w/ full sampling capabilities.



I wish I had more time to phuck with it, but that's how things are when you work all the time.

If had money to get a nice keyboard it'd be first on my list

How are the onboard sounds...Dated? Still Relevant? Anyone have experience making strange, unrealistic sounds with this piece?

The Kurzweil series of course uses the V.A.S.T. (varible architecture synthesis technology) and it's sounds are loaded into rom.

It's one of my fav sound modules and has it's own unique sound. Check one out if you can.

I had the k2000 when it first came out,loved it I have a 2500r now w/sampling option,programming it is not the easiest thing to do but it's very powerful once you learn it.

...and a tad expensive!

Yeah, they cost a grip but are a very well thought out synth / sampler. Ill sound mangling capabilities and built in sound library.

word to everything

i have a 2000r and its the warmest sounding module i have. i am fortunate to have alot of kits for it. like the moog, vintage synth, and juno kits. plus the orch board and pram option. so its worked out well for me. plus you can manipulate the shit out of the sounds. definitely cop that board. once you learn how to use it you wont ever want to get rid of it.
