Finally getting my 4k back from repairs

I missed my 4k after repairing pads, sensors, buttons, wheels, and grounding from Akai japan with a small discount of course ha, ha, after two weeks. I used my 3k alot with soft samplers and Ultrabeat learned alot and made some workarounds. The 3k definitively has a different feel. But I will be so happy tomorrow getting the 4k back cuz the 4k is definitively the mpc for me.

Everything is laid out, it is easy to load, easy to sequence, layer, add controller data, and morph the samples everything from working with software within a certain extent I can do in my 4k. Of course no autochop or hardtrack recording and extensive effects I got by spending time with recycle more to work out truncate the right way for my 3k, I got by layering a breaks with analog hits in Ultrabeat with the various envelopes on each sample and I advanced with battery by adjusting sample start in battery to layer sounds. All of which is tremendously easy to do in the 4k.

All I can say you can grow too once you miss using your main tools. It took awhile to send it in for repair and get it back but it was worth the growth and improve interface in the long run.

i've been meaning to use ultrabeat and exs24 more but since i got the mpc i haven't touched em... maybe soon

Thanks I had the 3k sitting in the box for awhile cuz I lacked space in my lab. Once the 4k started acting up I been using the 3k which is very simple especially step edit kind of reprogram my ears, feel and way of working. But editing for the 3k I had to do alot on the computer with Recycle to truncate the sample just right. 3k is truely a audio unit but the 4k is visual and audio unit with the advance features of the software based tools too.

Ultrabeat is great for analog drums and samples layered together. Just think Touch it by Busta Rhymes and I recycle a loop to lay out to import into EXS24.

Cool the 3k feel is kind of groovy especially at a mod tempo even if you fuk up it still kind of sounds good ha, ha, ha. But the 4k for me at least I could program in two passes or less especially send out midi tracks into logic. The 3k velocity integration with battery 3 threw me off at first until I went into battery and turned up the velocity curve. But with the 4k I never had that problem hmm. 3k chopping by ear is a great plus to get it crisp and the attacks right, I will swear off using any visual autochops they fuk up your attack by cutting off the initial click of the drum. But the 3k was a bit time consuming as well cuz you had alot of extra steps cut down and refined in the 4k like something simple as moving notes. Step edit to find and seq edit to move whereas on the 4k I can do both on both pages. It`s all good enjoy the sequencer is what I love about the 3k and 4k along with the shortcuts.

man I really need to get my buttons around the jog wheel replaced as they work sometimes but not with enough consistency.
Anyone know a good place in the uk to get this done?

Damn, it should be like a new machine when you get on it.
Yeah I need to go ahead and replace my bottons. I just replace my battery and maxed out my memory.

Me too..most of them are loose and some like [main] or [enter] don't respond at all.Thanks to QWERTY keyboard i get the job done,but it needs service.

Damn it feels good to just click that main key to instantly switch to the page. For a while I had gotten so used to pressing down on my main key that it had sunken down nearly flat with the surface. I had a technique of switching it from the side anyways I had all of mofkin buttons replaced. I feel like I just opened the box again with a new 4k. I highly recommend to get those buttons replace as soon as possible I had the problem for a year but hesitated to send it in cuz of fear of downtime until my pad 4 went out and I say it is time.

But while it was away and I worked with my 3k with ultrabeat and soft synth I came to thinking the 4k is more akin to a synth like the guy said all along more than a drum sampler like the 3k definitely is.

I`m glad to have it back in fine condition.
