JJOS worth it?

I have the lastest OS 1.24 and it is not bad I have been using a MPC for 16 years I go way back to the 3000. I like the new features on this one but I am not that blown away by it. I makes chopping samples easier.

All the features in the JJOS 1 and 2 is it really worth it??

Try 'em out and dig into all the new features. The only thing you won't be able to do is save your work till you purchase the password. To me it was definitely worth it to buy OS1, and even more worth it to spend the extra money on OS2.... especially for the full ADSR on the amp, filter, and pitch envelopes. There's alot more. Try before you buy.

Just seems to me the ones that like the OS are the ones that are new to MPC's I could be wrong but that what I am getting out of it..

I used to use a 3000LE back in the day, then I left MPC world for a few years until recently when I picked up a used 2000xlSE2, after enjoying again the immediacy that only a MPC can offer I got a 2500. I did not really like the 2500 OS as I found it less featured (in the sequencer) than the 2kxl and not as immediate and user friendly, the new sample editing was OK but no real quantum leap.

So after a bit of reading up on JJ I bought both and I would not want to go back to the Akai OS, this is what I feel the 2500 should be. The sample editing and program functions are way ahead of the Akai OS, and $88 is not really a lot of money is it? I think the instrument program in OS2 is very cool and turns the 2500 into a proper sampler instead of just a drum/loop sampler.

So I say give it a try, it takes a little getting used to but it is well worth the effort.

The editing of samples is much quicker and more efficient on JJOS, really the list of improvements is huge.

Okay so you have a lot ofexperience with the device which I am happy to hear I might in a few weeks buy it I just want to play with this OS for a bit.

Yes, until you buy it, then you can install OS2 and try that. That caught me out at first, but OS1 needs to be on your MPC to install the demo of OS2.

For sure when I get my 2500 or 1000 watever it ends up being in October I will get the JJOS.

But Im not sure if I will be buying the OS1 & OS2?

Just printed out the JJOS Comparison Chart and it looks very well worth spending the $88 for the JJOS2.

For sure now I will buy the full deal...

JJOS for the simple reason that it is still being supported and updated.

man i'm waiting to finish this track i'm working on before i make the switch to os1

from what i read, if you have a hdd in the mpc you have to format it. is this true? i don't want to lose anything so i'll make a back up for sure, but just checking so i'm 100%.

Yeah just make a backup of your HDD, then reformat it with JJ then copy all your data back.

hell yeah... an excuse to organize my library...

and then wait as all 40gb of it transfers via usb 1.0 to and fro.
