I can see you guys love the 60, but...

I"ve been using the 2kxl for a while, and sometimes prefer it to the 60 ( I have that as well) due to its ease of sample editing, filters, and the efx board.

I must admit, the sound isn't as punchy, but to get my ideas down, it seems a lot easier for me than the 60.

for those who have tried both, what do you guys think?

Im pretty new to the 60 but I like to have to work to cram the samples in to such small space. Its easy to get blase about putting in sounds when you've got so much space, especially on computers, but when you have to think carefully about how to sort it it makes your ears work harder and I find it more fun and rewarding. Just seeing I've still got a couple of seconds left when I've filled up with a bitchin kit is pretty rewarding.

I prefer the sound of the 60, I love the hi-hat lever, the fact the pads are on the left, the numerous keys that get you straight to were you wanna be without menu ****, the size and build blah blah. Its nicer to play and doesn't feel so plasticky.

The sequencer I dont feel is particularly different in terms of swing and shuffle but I do think haven't the extra few thousand is a bonus on the 2XL. But its much easier to operate on the 60 to my mind cos of the editing keys. Plus the 60 has 4 midi outs. That makes a serious difference to me for syncing and controlling my other gear.

I love Cubase SX2 and vsti's, my sweet little shuttle PCs and not having so many leads about in 2004, but the 60 is just the buffest piece of gear.

not to mention the butter-like pads and the wrist rest! Now thats playa. Slap on some louie vuitton material on that....ohh

I had the 2kXL for about 6 months before I got a fully loaded 60. At first I did kind of miss the ease of laying my ideas out on the 2kXL. As time went on though and I figured out my way around the 60, I came to prefer it to anything I've ever used.

It's funny how the 60 does that huh? There is a certain elegance to the way it operates that make the whole open window scene seem so crass.
