my first dig tommorrow..

at this GOODWILL, each record sells for .49 cents.. i was gonna ask if theirs any tips on what genres should i be mainly looking for? im into looking for horns, good vocals that would sound good being looped, along with drums.. and everything in between.. kinda excited tho, hopefully this experience would be good..

good to be excited but remember most .49 cent records are going to be rubbish..
choose stuff based on the cover art, genre, year, artists, whatever.
Like if something has a trippy or cool or funky or smooth looking cover, its gonna prick my ears up.
If theres some mid 60s jazz or early 70s funk have a closer look
Artists, labels, producers, engineers - all these things you will begin to recognise as your buy more records

to be honest, for your first dig tomorrow don't be suprised if you come home with 20 bad records and 1 useable one.

its all about expanding your knowledge so you can recognise what might be useable / awesome

ha i remember my first dig i thought i got 8 dope records and ended up just sampling 1 record for some lame drums and chopping them in to one shots.

man, i had a great experience!! ima listen to the records now.. each record was 25 cents, i got 10$ worth..

What kind of joints did you cop?

If you are just starting to dig, then thrifts are great. By buying stuff there for cheap, you will quickly learn what you like, as well as what you don't like, and at the same time learn labels, musicians, songs, and general music knowledge fairly fast.
The down side is that the selection is meh at times, and you will have to go through alot of easy listening, mitch sings at christmas-type of crap. Alot of the rarer stuff will not show up at the thrifts, cause some other dude who was there half an hour before you cherry-picked the hot jawns before you got there.
However, it is all in the timing. I have found the occasional raer at the thifts, and for $0.50 a record, I can't recommend getting dirty and diggin' at the thifts enough...

Just remember digging is a journey...and also remember to have fun!!!

ALOT OF just random records.. ive been workin so much, so, im sorry i couldnt reply.. i found some pretty good ones tho, an they dont even check the records in the record holder, so i stuff about three different records in each sleeve..

hahahaha, naw. they get the records for free, so whats it hurting them? and, money is tight right now, lol, not a good excuse, but heyy!

mate, seriously. your first dig didnt go too good. and the whole ethics of stealing from charity shops.. if you find something sick - then you have to pay. its downright rude to steal whats already a bargain.

.... but that toot you nicked is just standard charity £1/Dollar bin business. im not saying you couldn't flip it, but its not worth **** up your relationship with a record source for what you got.
