Since this is my first post I thought the best thing to do is thank all headz that shared they knowledge on this website-You have been most helpful!

Allow me to introduce myself: I come from Warsaw/Poland and have been involved in rap and beat making for just about a decade now (with different intensity and effects over the years to be honest) Mostly used FL STUDIO which I find good beat laying tool by the way and don't believe cats that say its sht-thats not true!

Recently I decided to go hardware for the fun of it. Couple a months ago I purchased my first mpc1000 but unfortunately unit broke badly after a week so had to wait for replacement that I finally got 3 weeks ago.
Since then I've been beating sht out of it and my life changed for better.

how did your last mpc break exactly?

Welcome to the boards homie.

Well it goes like this: It came with Akai os 2.11 and I immediatelly switched to free jj 3.08.
It was working fine for a week or so, nothing to complain exept
maybe for a little unstable usb connection accesing HDD.
Then one day I left it on for about 10h and when I got back to it I
got this Stack dump, illegal etc.-typical crash.
When I rebooted it my pads started to play very fast, random sounds
and i wasn't able to reach any mode cause they triggered like crazy.
As anybody would do I went to mpc forums and searched for some answers.
a short list:
-ram/hdd problem (someone advised to take out ram or hdd and see if it's
working normal without it, then put it back in if it is)-that didn't
work for me, the pads were still triggering by itself in any
configuration of the above.
-os reinstallation- the problem was still there with either of the
akai os's or jj os's free or not free.Factory defaults restore didn't
help either.
-reconnecting cables from pads to the unit -that didn't work either,
pads were triggering even when they were physically disconnected from
the unit.
-checking for loose or too tight screws touching something inside - I
did that with pad screws and basically all the screws that are visible
when you take the front and top panel off.Nothing
So, that's basically all that happened and what I did to reanimate my unit.
I wrote back to place where i bought it (hiphoptools that is).I was was scared as hell cause I didn't have any receit or anything since I wanted to avoid customs etc.
They told me to send it back and I'll get fresh new unit-hopefuly they didn't rip me off and sent back a nice new unit with new pads (the other one didn't have them although it was black) Sweet!

damn! sounds like you got a duffer, huh? thats pretty scary shit - i like to pretend that my 1k will last as long as peoples 2kxl's but these kind of storys scare me.

That must have been faulty mainboard,nothing else.
This one feels like its gonna last forever.I don't worry

my mpc 1000 will last long at the mpc 60's
but i had something like that happening to me

i had my mpc synced with fruity loops and i had it in play just going over the loop to **** with it
so i go into step edit mode and i click move then change the time and then it started skipping and no buttons
would work. sounds were just triggering by itself then it went into over dub
and it was just got awol. so i had to lose what i was working on had to shut it off then turn it back on
i lost all the data but its fine since i turned it back on
