MPC1000 RAM and CF card Recommendations

I just copped the Micron from geek.com. Big Ups Captain Hook it works like a charm.

after initially buying a 128MB chip (doh!) I managed to get hold of:

Samsung 256MB PC133 SODIMM SDRAM Laptop Memory 144 Pin CL3

Displays 128MB but not tried it yet, fingers crossed
£9.99 on eBay

hey guys i just got an mpc 500 and i know, maybe this question got answered already, but there are 35 pages and it would take me a lot of time to search through all these pages, so i hope it is ok if i ask following question: the user manual says that the mpc 500 can manage up to a max 2gb compact flash card, but maybe when the mpc 500 was released, 2gb was the maximum size of a cf, so is it possible that the mpc 500 can also manage up to a 8gb cf? i just wanto be sure what cf i should buy.

16GB CF-card from A-Data seems to work. I paid ~50€ (~70usd), so the price vs. GB ratio is quite ok. No need to have a hard drive.

Hi Guys, I'm the UK and have some RAM sticks if anyone wants them....

The RAM is PC 133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM 256MB, 1 by kingston and 2 by Samsung, all are low density so should work fine.

I bought them for the 1K i was gonna get, but decided to go in another direction in the end, so never tested, but all the right specs.

16GB CF Card and USB card reader too.

No charge, I have no use for them... maybe cost of postage would be nice via paypal or something?

By the way, new MPCs and MV8800 don't use the same type of RAM. MPCs use a laptop style module SO-DIMM, with 144 pins, and the MV8800 uses desktop PC style DIMM, 168 pins! The similarity is that they're both SDRAM (an old technology - replaced by DDR a few years ago). See http://www.roland.com/products/en/MV-8800/specs.html

DIMM: 1 slot (168 pins, PC100 CL = 2 or PC133 CL = 3, 3.3 V, 128 M bytes, 256 M bytes, 512 M bytes), 128 M bytes (standard), Expandable up to 512 M bytes (replacement to 512 M bytes DIMM is required.)

I'll check if I have a SDRAM DIMM 168p laying aroung somewhere (should have at least a 256 Mb module) - I can mail it to you to return the favour
