Refurbished MPC 1000

Is it a good idea to buy a refurbished MPC 1000 from the Akai website? I don't want to buy a used one because I don't want any possible problems, but is the refurbished one a safe bet being that it is quality approved and tested by Akai? Is there still a possibility of problems? Is a new one a better buy?

A refurbed means they messed up the first time... so the kinks are not guaranteed to be out. I'd just cop used if I were you. I just bought a "new, open box" with what i believe are new pads for $731 shipped.
