start with akai OS, or switch to JJ right away?

hey all,

new to the 1000. have the stock akai OS on there, and I'm learning my way through it.

i was wondering what peeps recommend though - do you think I should continue learning the ins-and-outs of the akai OS and then (if need be) switch to the free JJ, or just switch to the JJ right away and learn on that.

one of my reservations is that the manual i'm learning from will be different from the JJ os.

any thots?

i waited about a month, thinking there was going to be some drastic workflow difference between akai and jj, and that i'd have to first learn the akai os and then the jjos.

i was pleased to find that jj simply has more options features and an improved workflow. i wished i had just jumped straight in.

Just wanted to add that i waited a few weeks before going from jjos1 to jjos2, becuase i didnt want to let my dual filters go!
it was a shame to loose them, but os2's extra features make up for it - and the stuff i was doing on 2 filers is easily achievable in DAW anyway.

i've also read that people are using the 2500 manual as some of the features in jj are the same as those on the 2500 os.
but i've not downloaded that yet, so cant be sure how useful that it. worth looking into though.

Get JJ OS 1 and 2. Dual boot so you can filck between the two operating systems.

i've never understood the advantages of using os1 AND 2 other than the extra filter on 1. I assume i'm missing something and wondering what that might be.

No there isn't. Give me an MPC 2500 and I'll create one. I Uploaded the indesign template for the manual on my server and told the guys in the JJOS 2k5 thread that it is out there and they could use it, but no body did... so there won't be any I gues... can not everybody has so much style as the 1k peeps... now sig that

BTW, to get back to the topic: Go straight to JJ, omit learning AKAI OS!
