Mpc2000xl MCD....

Im comtemplating on wheather or not i should buy this it comes with the manual/CF card reader/power cord/and of course the Mpc2000xl MCD For $750 i dont know to much about the Mpc2000xl MCD yet but i am a transplant of the Mpc1000 and i have always wanted to use floppies cause' its just so raw but i am coming to a realization that it's 2008 and technology is only going to get better so CF wouldn't be a bad choice....Another question is how would i be able to organize the CF if it has no usb port from the MP going to the computer ?!?!

Most people will advise you to get the 1000...

But about transferring samples you can just get a card reader for your computer.

Is this also how i put my beats on the computer?....by using the card reader?

If you wanna track your beats, you'll be needing a decent audio interface for your computer.

I might as well get the gray one with floppies then right?...How can i use the audio interface if the 20000xl doesn't have usb?

Floppies are a pain in the ass man...If you get an xl, you wanna get a card reader because it's a lot more reliable.

If you want to properly track your beats out you wanna record all the different tracks separately (snares, kicks, main samples, bass, etc etc). So you need a proper audio interface to get decent quality. You'd connect the outs of your mpc (main outs or separate 8 outs if you got the 8 out expansion board) to your audio interface and press record in your DAW software of choice.

Ok thanks man i appreciate everything!...I think im going to buy this 2000xl i just hope the CF drive is hot swappable!

just get a usb multi card reader for the computer. they cost 5-15 bucks and you wond need to move your mpc closer to the tower to plug it in (not that 2000xl's have usb) but the 1000 only hooks up to the computer to read the cards. you can just take the card out and pop it in the computer... plugging the 1000 in by usb = popping the card in the computer... but if you were lazy it would be clear that a card is lighter then a usb cable.

floppies are not more raw then cards. this isn't tape vs cd we're talking about.

why would u get a 2k for that price when u could get a 1k cheaper .....just get the 1k with jjos and be done .....and if u find that ur beats dont sound good comin from the 1k....... its only operator error !

yeah true, a sh!t producer with no creativity wont be any better on a 5k then he will be on a casio toy.

However, personally.... I prefer the feel of working with the xl hardware wise then the 1k.

It would be cool if there was a way to swap the xl motherboard with a 1k motherboard and hook it up to the oldschool pads etc.

but on another note, might aswell get the 2500 with jjos. It has more physical options. (if money wasn't really a huge issue)
