mpc 2000 studio help

I am currently saving up for a home studio. I have Cakewalk Music creator 3, A SCSI Zip drive, Casio CTK-601 midi keyboard, and am planning on getting a mpc 2000(not xl). Are there any other things that i am going to need like speakers and a mixer usb midi supports or anything and if so what are some good brands and prices i could get?

collect music software.

get them where you can, for as cheap (preferably free) as possible...

get an audio interface. try looking at m-audio. they are a company that makes stuff that is decent quality for cheap. get some studio monitors, and look online on websites like craigslist and kijiji for people who give away or sell really cheap vinyls and oldschool CDs. collect everything you can, check the garage sale departments.

I am telling you this, even though it isn't studio equipment because you will need s#!t loads of records to sample from and that takes time to collect, so start now.

I got over 1500 vinyls (not countint the 45's) and I didn't pay a penny for any of them, except about 10 of them that I bought for a dollar each.

up to you, and the particular project you are working on... you will descide what te right descision is for the particular occasion.

I am not saying cake walk is not good... but different software does different things. each company has their own things they do well... so get the best of everything.

software can be free.

Midi will not transmit any audio what so ever. It only transmits data, similar to the way your pc's keyboard sends it's info through it's cable to your computer.

maybe he was thinking of using the mpc as an interface or something, because there are quite a few videos on youtube of people doing that.

it is a good idea, except for the fact that the pads get worn down, so might aswell get an mpd 16 for 50 bucks.
