how do i delete the pre-loaded songs?

I don't need them and they're taking up space. I've already formatted the card and still need more memory to finish this mixtape.
I'm new to the MPC world so someone help me out.

the defaults are in the flash memory not the cf card, you need to disable the autoload feature. As for deleting them you cant directly but you can save programs over them (up to 5mb)

everything here is covered in the manual

I feel your pain! Those demo songs are annoying as hell. Turning them off was one of the first things I figured out on the MPC.

The Flash ROM feature is actually kind of neat, ignore the shitty demo's. I use it for a batch of default samples so I can always pick up the MPC500 and be creative. The autoload function looks at the CF card first and if there isn't a AUTOLOAD folder there it loads the stuff form Flash ROM. So it can also be useful as a backup for your live performance for example in case someone steals your CF card or something you can still have 5MB of basic sounds and sequences to keep the show going.

as far as i can tell, the only way to clear the internal memory is to delete all the samples and programs, and sequences.... then save to internal. sort of a pain in the ass. there may be an easier way. but i haven't found it.

U can turn the autoload setting off from the Load mode options. Then the mpc will load nothing when powering up..

I havent saved anything in the internal memory.. I always start from sratch but I dont really do complete songs with my mpc, I just use it as a sampler(dont have to power up my computer and wire cables all over the room when I want to start sampling) and rhythm constructor and as some kindofa scratchbook for rhythms.

when the autoload is off, the mpc loads the internal memory. so if you don't want the mpc to load anything, you have to turn off the autoload, and save empty data in the internal.

hmmmh...

Are u sure u have actually tried this feature?? Autoload is about autoloading the internal memory..

You can deactivate this function so that the MPC500 will not load anything when switched on."

Edit:

Ok, I found another thing to quote which may solve out some of the autoload thingies..

"When you insert the memory card which has an AUTOLOAD folder, into the card slot and switch on the MPC500, the MPC500 will load the AUTOLOAD folder in the memory card automatically regardless of the settings in the 'Autoload' field."
