Figuring out the bars

When sampling.. some samples are really easy to figure out how many bars there are, but for some samples I just can't figure it out and it frustrate me trying to figure it out, and I might just give the shyt up on a certain sample.
For an instance... how would you figure out how many bars there are in a instrument that does not have any type of drums or percussion behind it, but overall... what is the easiest way to figure out bars for any samples?

sometimes you hear something that is in an awkward spot in the og song, but you hear the loop in your head.

sometimes it may start on the 3rd or 4th beat instead of the one.

my best advice is to count the origional song youre sampling so you see where it falls. then just adjust .

or, if you just cant get it to fit, chop that biatch up and make it fit

listen to peaks...
clap your hands..

think of it this way when listening to a song with no precussion, then where would you put your drums bang something out on your desk and just start counting 1,2,3,4-2,2,3,4-3,2,3,4-4,2,3,4
