Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Anyone tried 500 with rechargeable batteries?
If so, how do they perform?
...and any specs about the batteries itself would be nice.

Tried getting some info from akai but no use.

im using 2700 mah and the usage is quite acceptable, i bought two sets and a "fast" charger that takes about 5 hours to charge. Works well

I've heard that those 15min chargers mess up batteries in long run.

Thanks for info,
Can you compare the battery life of your rechargeables to normal alkalines?

Oh, and one thing about the low battery warning setting:
I've been in belief that the warning goes on by detecting the voltage of the batteries..
The voltage in normal alkalines drops constantly during use, but in my understanding the
rechargeables keep their voltage in about the same level almost 'til the end of their enchargeament.
How do you deal with that..

Or putting it simple: How do you keep yourself aware about the battery life and how have you set the lo-battery warning :)

With alkalines I've held it as the default 6 and it's worked alright to me.

Simply set the voltage detection higher on rechargeables
go to mode & pad 8 (other)...use the data wheel, scroll to "low Bat. Warning and turn it up

Ok, thanks.
It would be nice if someone has some tested value for the warning level with reachargeables, of course I'll find it out after a while, just trying to get a short cut.

Then if someone has any comparison about the battery life of reghargeables against alkalines..my lust for information would be satisfied for now.

i use rechargeables, and they work well. problem is no warning when they are about to die. i'll experiment with the voltage sensor, and try to find a good setting…

About the low battery warning, thats what Ive thought would happen.. How long do your rechargeables last? What size are your rechargeables in mAh? Do you use your mpc with backlight on or off when using battery power?

2600mAh AA NiMH
4-6 hrs
backlight usually on.

i bought the batteries and charger from batteryjunction you'd be surprised how intelligent the charger is. it takes a minute, but i just charge my shit when i sleep.

valuable info, thanks!

I've been looking into 2000mAh batteries which have low self-discharge level, but I think I'd look around for a while to find good 2500 mAh ones..

the charger i have is where it's out. it discharges the batteries, then fills em up, and if i'm sleeping on taking them out of the charger, it reverts to a trickle charge...
