I'm a local toronto emcee that's always been fascinated with beat production. I'm looking to buy a machine that'll last me a long **** time, that won't really be traveling anywhere - physically.

As it stands, I have the option of buying either
1.) Newer Black MPC1000 (New Pads)
2.) MPC2000XLSpecial Edition 3 (Metal Cover... transforming looking shit)

I have done research..but being a rook it would be best to make an informed decision. Which one would you buy and why?

Aesthetically the 2000XL blows the 1k outta the water for me... but if someone could tell me the techinical pro's and con's of each they'd get big respect.

the 1000 w/ JJOS installed, simply because it blows the rest out of the water. its continuesly updated and supported (although not by akai). compact and pretty much portable if you need that. lots of great features (although you may never use them all its always nice to have). its an all around faster machine (sampling, chopping, loading etc.) than the 2k. you can have an internal hd, USB!!!, plus CF card usage.

the 1k and 2500 are my all time faves although ive only used the 2kxl, 2500, 500 and 1k.

feelin that - personally I would never spend MORE money to have it easier on me. I picked up a guitar and taught myself to impeccable skillfulness... and emceein' - it's going to be no problem, many others have done it.
